On February 2, a two year old Goldendoodle that was given the name “Jet Blue” was found tied to a ticketing counter at the Harry Reid Airport at approximately 11:39 P.M. His owner allegedly left him to catch her flight.
A woman by the name of Germirah Hobbs was about to leave for her flight with her dog included. Hobbs was then denied boarding because of the lack of service animal paperwork, which then led to her leaving the dog tied up to the ticketing counter.
Hobbs was then arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department and charged with animal abandonment, who would’ve then gotten issued with a bench warrant since she missed her arraignment.

The Goldendoodle was then taken into the hands of Danielle Roth, the founder of Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. Jet Blue was placed into foster care for a 10 day hold period, waiting for Hobbs to retrieve her pet, she failed to claim Jet Blue.
Videos and photos were spread across social media of Hobbs leaving her dog at the ticketing counter, accusing the airline staff that they told her to do so since she failed to file the paperwork. It shows Hobbs showing no care and was unapologetic towards the situation.
Roth stated that within days thousands of dog applications poured in both from in the country and internationally, with 2,700 and more emails piling up. Roth was thrilled to see that so many people were interested in Jet Blue and to hear Jet Blue’s story.
Sophomore Aubrie Bush, an owner of two dogs, states, “Some people don’t deserve animals, the person who abandoned the animal should be held accountable, and I’m glad the dog found a home.”
Under the shelter’s care, it has been confirmed from Dog abandoned at Las Vegas airport finds new home at rescue that he has been both neutered and vaccinated.
In an interview with 8 News Now, Roth states, “This has been the most unbelievable thing that has happened to a rescue to be honest.”
Officer Skeeter Black was the officer to respond to the call on February 2nd, and is now the one to give Jet Blue his forever home. According to nbcnews.com , there have been several posts on social media about Black and his family looking for a goldendoodle to care for and nurture since September.

From the heartbreaking abandonment to the powerful connection between Black and Jet Blue, Black has now identified what a man’s best friend is.
