Shadow Ridge Student Council is selling senior locks for all the seniors to buy as a form of remembrance that they are personally able to decorate so they are remembered how they want. They are selling them at school until the end of the year.
Senior Scarlett West says, “The locks are a way for seniors to leave their legacy/mark at the Ridge. It’s just a small way to say they made an impact. The inspiration came from the many love lock bridges around the world but with a fun twist adapted for seniors.”

Seniors being able to leave their locks that they decorate personally, leaves an image that no one else is able to. This new legacy allows incoming students to be able to see whose footsteps they are following as each class graduates.
“Student Council is selling them for only $7 each,” stated West.
This is a very cheap way for our class of 2026 to leave their mark here at Shadow to be remembered for years to come.
“Seniors are buying them as a cute way to remember senior year and their time at the Ridge,” describes West. “They are writing their names and messages and decorating them any way they would like.”
These seniors are freely able to express their creativity through these locks. They are able to decorate them however they wish, with words, their name, any colors, and whatever pictures they wish to make them unique.
“The locks are being placed on the back blue fence of the quad starting above the door near JROTC,” said West. “Hopefully as the tradition carries on, the whole wall will fill up.”
This is a place in the school where they can be showcased so everyday, students will be able to look up to their graduated Mustangs.

Senior Harmony Taylor says, “Personally I think this is going to be a great tradition that I hope the underclassmen carry on.”
For years to come, students hope these senior locks will become a tradition that every Stuco president will choose to continue on.
West explains, “This is a tradition we are trying to kickstart with the class of 2026. Next year’s senior class president currently plans to carry on the tradition.”
Hopefully enough seniors buy the locks this year to carry on this tradition for years to come. Seniors should buy their locks to decorate to leave their legacy before the school year ends.
