With graduation just around the corner, Richards is looking forward to new adventures at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he intends to pursue a degree in film.
Richard’s journey towards storytelling began in the classroom, particularly in his journalism class, which he describes as one of the most rewarding experiences of his high school career.
“I’ve always loved writing and documenting things and people,” Richards shares.
His enthusiasm for journalism has not only sharpened his writing skills but also ignited his passion for storytelling, which he hopes to carry into his future career as a filmmaker.
“I’m really excited to go to college and experience more of the world,” Richards expresses with genuine anticipation.
His dreams are vivid and imaginative; he’s not just interested in making films but wishes to create an animated feature that will capture the hearts of audiences and potentially reach theaters.
“Creating something that brings joy to others is what I aspire to do,” he explains, highlighting his desire to blend creativity with purpose.
Richards references his diverse interests, including his love for drawing and music. With creative projects that have included bands like Chrysalids and Youressence, he has always sought to leverage his artistic abilities to express himself. Out of the bands he formed, Chrysalids holds a special place in his heart.
“Music is another way I can tell stories and connect with others,” Richards says, illustrating how his creative pursuits have always intertwined.
Richard’s favorite movie, “Spirited Away,” reflects his appreciation for creative storytelling, while “Vegas Vacation” caters to his sense of humor and love for adventure. His affinity for the animated world carries into his desire to write a book, further illustrating his passion for storytelling.
Outside of his artistic aspirations, Richards enjoys the simple pleasures of life, like indulging in his favorite food, pizza, and soaking in the beauty of the Philippines, one of his favorite places. He also enjoys the animated sitcom “King of the Hill,” which resonates with his sense of humor and appreciation for storytelling.
As he prepares to take the next step in his journey, Richards stands out as a shining example of ambition and creativity at Shadow Ridge High School. His dedication to expanding his creative horizons while bringing joy to those around him invites students to all dream bigger.
