The atmosphere at Shadow Ridge High School was electrric on April 29, 2026, as the Men’s Volleyball Team gathered to celebrate Senior Night. The evening was a tribute to the leadership and dedication of seniors Tanner Dixon, Zavier Coleman, Kai Dockery, and Zion Moore.

While the pre-game ceremony was filled with cheers, the ensuing match against rivals Arbor View proved to be a gritty test of resilience. Shadow Ridge fought hard but ultimately fell to the Aggies, leaving the team to reflect on both the night’s significance and the work still ahead.
Junior captain, Maxwell Romzek, led the Mustangs through a lineup that was forced to adapt on the fly. Despite the outcome, Romzek saw silver linings in how the team handled the pressure.
“Even though we lost I would argue that it was a pretty good game,” Romzek said. “We were missing a couple key guys and people had to play different positions, (obviously not an excuse just an observation) but I think the team did a good job managing everything weird.”
While he acknowledged the effort, Romzek was honest about the technical gaps that allowed the Aggies to pull ahead.
“We did however get outplayed and had trouble just making Arbor play the ball,” Romzek admitted. “We made a lot of serving errors and had some poorly timed mistakes overall, but that doesn’t take away from the still great work that was put in.”
For Moore, the night carried the extra weight of being his final league appearance on his home court. The rivalry with Arbor View made the narrow defeat sting.
“Honestly I really wanted to win that game against Arbor,” Moore said. “It was my last league game in my home gym against our rivals and it really sucks that we lost.”
However, with fellow seniors Dixon, Coleman, and Dockery by his side, Moore is choosing to focus on the longevity of their season rather than a single loss.
“However I always try to look toward the future and knowing that we still have playoffs in the future helped me to have a brighter outcome and know that my season wasn’t over yet,” Moore explained.
As the Mustangs transition out of the regular season, the focus has shifted entirely to the postseason bracket. Moore made it clear that the team isn’t dwelling on the Senior Night scoreboard for long.
“Ultimately that game didn’t matter. Advancing in the playoffs is my only concern,” Moore added. “However I do think we played a really good game and it was close and I know that if we get the chance to play against Arbor again we will come out stronger with more intensity and a better focus at making less errors,” Moore concluded.
With the leadership of Romzek and the veteran experience of Dixon, Coleman, and Dockery, the Mustangs are poised to turn this Senior Night lesson into playoff momentum.
