Shadow Ridge’s Girl’s Bowling Team made history this season, finishing with a dominant performance to win the state championship. Their journey to the top wasn’t just about skill, but also teamwork, confidence, and staying focused under pressure. For the team, the championship win meant more than just a title. It reflected the effort they put in all season and their ability to perform when it mattered most.

Head Coach Jeremiah Baron states, “It means a lot! Like many sports, bowling is all about handling pressure and performing well when you are in the spotlight. The girls were able to do just that: we didn’t lose a game throughout the playoffs and a few girls even had PRs in the playoffs.”
Throughout the season, the team’s success came from more than just talent. Their connection with each other played a big role in how they performed during matches.
“There were so many factors that led to our success, but I would have to say that the biggest factor was that the girls really gelled as a team. Our two captains planned some team outings and I think that really helped,” Baron explains.
During the championship match, the team faced a tense moment that could have shifted the outcome. However, their strong start in the final game helped secure their lead and boost their confidence.
Baron states, “After the 2nd game, we were ahead but D.O. had gained some ground on us. When our 1st bowler started the 3rd game with a couple of strikes, I knew that we were in good shape. The girls were really pumped at this point and fed off of each other’s energy.”
Another key part of their season was the motivation to prove others wrong. Even though they weren’t expected to be a top team, they used that as fuel to push themselves.
“Motivation was never an issue during the season; both the boys and girls team were not projected as a top team by the Las Vegas Review Journal, so everyone was motivated to prove that we were one of the best teams in the state,” Baron emphasized.
Instead of relying on just one standout player, the team had multiple athletes step up when needed. This balance helped them stay consistent during important matches.
Baron mentioned, “It’s hard to single out one girl. There were moments throughout the year when each of them stepped up to help the team win. Tia Breeden and Jordynn Hernandez both had PRs during the playoffs; and Katrell Could-Mixon also bowled really well the last match.”
Looking ahead, the team hopes to continue growing and welcomes new players interested in joining.
“I would recommend joining one of the junior leagues at either Suncoast or Santa Fe lanes. Those leagues do a good job of providing experience and coaching. We have a lot of seniors graduating, so there we need lots of girls to try out,” Baron adds.
