The Shadow Ridge JV Softball Team is totally awesome! They are like a powerhouse team that helps players get ready for the varsity team, which is one of the best in the whole state. This year is the 2026 spring season, and the JV Mustangs are doing a great job continuing their tradition of being excellent. They have a mix of 10th graders and 9th graders. Together, they make a really scary lineup for other teams because they can hit the ball super far and their pitchers are getting better every single day.
One of the best things about the team this year is how much they score. During March and April, the team improved so much! They were constantly putting up double-digit runs, which means they scored ten or more points in almost every game against their rivals. One of the most exciting games was in late March when they beat Liberty 17-2. That is a lot of runs! Then, in April, they had a huge game against Palo Verde where they won 12-0. A game like that is called a shutout because the other team didn’t get to score at all.

There are some really great players on the team that everyone is talking about. Brooklyn Romero and Moriah Joshua are rising stars. They hit the ball really well and help drive the team to win. Even though the varsity team is busy trying to win the state championship, the JV team has a different goal. Their goal is called “versatility.” That’s a big word that means the players are learning how to play lots of different positions on the field.
The 2026 roster is full of girls who are comfortable playing anywhere the coach puts them. This is really helpful if someone is sick or if the game gets really tough and they need to change things up. This “adaptability” is why they win so many close games. The freshmen are also doing a big job this year. Moriah Joshua is a great pitcher who stays calm in the circle, and Skylee Gonzalez is a freshman who is amazing at fielding the ball and not making mistakes.
But being on this team isn’t just about hitting and catching. The players are also learning how to be tough in their heads and how to talk to each other on the field so they don’t get confused. They follow the rules of the whole Shadow Ridge program. The Varsity Assistant Coach, Coach Drew Dubois, says that the “quality of each member” is what makes the team awesome. This means everyone is important, not just the best players.
The girls on the JV team are like a big family. They cheer for each other when they do something great, and they help each other out if someone makes a mistake or feels sad. It makes everyone feel happy because it shows that the future of Shadow Ridge softball is in good hands! <
