On Decatur there’s a lot of new buildings currently under construction including a new gas station, a McDonald’s, and the latest addition, a new Albertsons on Decatur and Elkhorn. This Albertsons comes with many new features that high school students and others can enjoy, including a new Starbucks, a pick up and go station, and a full built in pharmacy. This will open many new job opportunities for students at Shadow Ridge.
Luis Arevalo a junior states,”Yeah, it’s finally about time they make a grocery store near Shadow Ridge. This building will provid more job opportunities for students and less crowded shopping areas around the school.”
According to Las Vegas Review Journal the project should be finished around late 2026, or the first quarter of 2027. The store itself will be 62,495 square feet on a 6.3 acre site. Kroger is also intending to merge with the Albertsons branch so people who enjoy Kroger can expect to see the latest Kroger items in store.
Mrs. Wilson, a history teacher states, ”I am actually pretty excited to have a grocery store closer to the school, as I am sure a lot of people are. While the Walmart or Costco on Decatur are not much further, it’s still nice to have a closer option especially for those who live in a close vicinity to the store. Teachers also sometimes need to make a quick run for supplies or snacks, and having a store that is smaller than Walmart and closer, and thus quicker to get in and out of, might be a plus for some teachers.”

Roche Construction shows a 3D rendition of what new Albertsons should be expected to look like. They also started to include employee break rooms, and this is when they included that every Albertsons would have a Starbucks feature. They also state how they will have a separate room for employee training. Roche construction has been helping Albertsons build stores for the past 40 years; the model #0195 will be their company’s 37th Albertsons project.
Mrs. Wilson continues to state, “Additionally, it happens to be right on my current commute, which makes stopping to grab a couple items for dinner super easy and convenient. I typically shop the weekly sales at Albertsons since they tend to have decent deals that can sometimes beat Walmart’s pricing, so being able to swing by on my way home from work and grab my sale items will be super helpful!”
