Known for her quick reflexes and powerful swing, Nielson is determined to help her team while proving her resilience.
“Being off the field was tough,” Nielson said. “Watching my teammates play while I couldn’t join in made me want to work even harder to come back stronger.”
Her rehabilitation was intense, but Nielson’s dedication never wavered. “I spent hours in physical therapy and on strength training,” she explained. “Every day was about getting my knee ready, not just to play again, but to play well.”
Now back on varsity, Nielson is focused on regaining her rhythm and confidence.
“It’s definitely different stepping back onto the field after surgery,” she said. “But I try to stay positive and take it one play at a time. I know I’ll get my timing and strength back.”
Nielson credits her teammates and coaches for helping her return.
Nielson states, “They’ve been really supportive, even when I was sidelined, they kept me involved and encouraged me. That made a huge difference in staying motivated.”
Her strategy this season is a mix of caution and determination.
“I’m paying extra attention to my movements and making sure my knee is protected, but I still want to contribute fully to the team,” Nielson explained. “I’m not just here to play, I’m here to help us win.”
Looking forward, she has clear goals for the season.
“I want to get back to my best and play confidently, more than anything, I want to help the team succeed and show that setbacks don’t have to hold you back,” said Nielson.
Nielson’s story is one of resilience, dedication, and love for the game.

“Every game I play this season feels like a victory,” she said. “Coming back after surgery reminds me why I love softball so much, and I’m excited to make every moment count.”
