Sophomore Kason Leavitt plays on the Junior Varsity Baseball Team here at Shadow during the spring sports season. He has had big goals and aspirations toward his love of baseball and has successfully accomplished many great achievements throughout his years of playing.
“I first started playing baseball when I was about seven because my dad played before me when he was younger,” Leavitt said.
Many athletes begin playing a sport due to a family member or friend playing first. For Leavitt’s case, his dad played before.
Leavitt says, “My absolute favorite part about the sport as a whole is getting to play with my friends.”
Many athletes love getting to make new friendships and keep old ones, while getting to play with them on sports teams.
“He is a really good teammate and always has very high energy in the dugout,” sophomore Ashton Snobel said.
Many of his teammates describe Leavitt as an energetic individual who brings a liveliness to the team.
“Something that was very difficult, but a challenge I overcame was failing multiple times but knowing that comes with the sport,” explained Leavitt.
Of course challenges come with playing baseball. For Leavitt, this was having to pick himself back up after failing mentally and physically.
Leavitt expresses, “My proudest moment of playing was when we won our first tournament as a club ball team for my club.”
Winning games and tournaments, and making great achievements throughout his time of playing have shaped his love for the game. When he won his first club tournament, his accomplishment sent his pride through the roof.

Snobel states, “Kason’s has a great attitude, wanting to win every single day on the field and give 100% no matter what. I look up to the energy he brings because he always has it every day even when he isn’t playing and there is never a time without him having energy.”
His high energy is looked upon by many of his teammates and coaches. Leavitt always brings his positive attitude to practices, games, and even in the dugout.
“I like playing baseball with Kason because he makes the game fun and is always so positive,” sophomore Decklan Wright stated. “His attitude toward the sport and the team is great because he never gets mad and is always very supportive towards everyone.”
Leavitt’s positivity and outlook on life are brought into the game of baseball and drive his love and passion for playing.
