Senior, Connor Fife is a multisport athlete here at Shadow Ridge, and has managed not only to win a state title in cross country, but is also on the Men’s Varsity Basketball Team.

Fife states, ¨The toughest challenge I have had was definitely deciding whether to do cross country or basketball.¨
Representing the school in multiple sports has made Fife realize that it is always important for him to try his best no matter if he is on the court or on the track.
Fife has been playing basketball his whole life, however he decided it was time to take the sport seriously freshman year. His cross country career started in eighth grade, and as much as he loved the sport after his freshman season he decided he needed to focus on basketball.
This was a very hard decision for the young athlete, especially since he had won a state title in cross country. However he knew he belonged on the court.
Throughout his athletic career, Fife has had to learn many life lessons, one being he had to learn balance and to stay calm in high pressure moments. Fife has also had to learn his worth is not defined by an athletic performance.
Fife states, ¨A way I have grown by competing at a high level is relaxing, and knowing there is more in life than just sports, sports isn’t your identity.¨
Fife has had many coaches, however one coach who has left a major impact on him was his JV coach, Coach Darrion. Darrion really helped to push Fife and has helped shape him into a better athlete.
Fife’s senior basketball season is slowly coming to an end, and to finish out the season, Fife hopes to be the finest player he can be. Being a multi-sport athlete has taught Fife to create goals for himself and to have grit in tough situations.

Fife states, ¨I stay motivated during losses by just knowing the goal we have as a team. And I remember my own person goal which is to try my best for myself and my team.¨
Although Fife doesn’t plan on continuing basketball or cross country after high school, he definitely plans on staying active, and will continue to casually play and run.
Playing multiple sports is not easy, and Fife has had to overcome many obstacles, even having to let go of a sport he loves dearly. However Fife has learned to just be himself and to give full effort in everything he does.
