Going into a new age of technology is always amusing in some shape or form, as technology is constantly improving and advancing, it’s sure to get a rise out of the public. As more and more people are implementing artificial intelligence into their day to day lives it’s only normal that it’ll become one of the biggest controversial topics in current day media.
Many people supported the development of Artificial Intelligence; its intent was to help assist people with complex troubles or simple minded questions. The one thing that no one predicted was how versatile AI really was.
As AI has developed over the years there has been significant progress in its influence and efficiency, especially from small features like Apple’s “Siri,” to OpenAI’s newest chatbot “ChatGPT.” The growth of AI in the past few years has been one of the most relied on systems, a completely different impression of how people saw it at first.
With AI being at the very touch of anyone’s fingertips it’s most likely that almost everyone has encountered AI at least once. AI subjects itself to whomever is using it and it’s safe to say that everyone has had a different experience when using AI.

From a students point of view, AI is used to help them with their classwork and any other assignments that they may have issues with. Though being used in a productive and efficient way, students still admit that AI is more of a tool than it is a way to gather information. Even with all being said and done, even with their attachment to AI, they realize that AI’s knowledge isn’t their own.
“It’s fast to get and give resources, but it also causes the absence of students wanting to learn to understand,” stated Jordyn Davison, a junior year high school student.
Teachers and educators see AI as a tool that can help organize and simplify their work. When it comes to AI’s practicality most educators use AI as a means to arrange and help better understand lesson plans.
“When it comes down to saving time, AI is more than helpful, but I am afraid of how much kids truly depend on it,” stated Mrs. McCoy, a teacher at Shadow Ridge.
Tech based fields take in AI and use it to their will, even though they may use AI in a portion of their work, they ensure that AI never replaces their purpose in their projects.
While the opinions about AI may differ based on who is asked, the overall answer is generally the same. Many are intrigued by the development of AI but when thinking about the soon to be future, those same supporters are the very ones who come to worry about the influence AI will have on people.
AI will never replace a human heart or soul, and no matter how hard people may try to copy a human’s thoughts and actions it’ll never be truly possible. Instead of being afraid of AI’s development it should be expanded upon, allowing more to utilize the purpose of it.
AI and human creativity should be able to work synonymously rather than working against one another. It’ll only take more time for either AI to develop and work with humans, or humans come to terms with AI, but until then AI will be one of the most controversial topics.
