After years of dedication, leadership, and impact on and off the field, Coach Foster has officially announced his retirement as Head Football Coach at Shadow Ridge High School. His decision marks the end of an era for the program, one defined by discipline, growth, and a strong sense of family within the team.
Coach Foster took over the program during a pivotal time and helped establish a culture centered on accountability and hard work. Over the years, he became known not only for his football knowledge, but also for his commitment to developing student-athletes into responsible young men. Players consistently described him as a coach who pushed them to be better in all areas of life, not just on Fridays under the lights.
“This wasn’t an easy decision, but I know it’s the right time,” Coach Foster said. “Shadow Ridge football has meant everything to me, and I’m proud of what we built together.”
Under his leadership, the program saw steady improvement, competitive seasons, and increased community support. More importantly, many players credit Coach Foster for helping shape their character and work ethic beyond high school. His influence extended into the classroom, where academics and personal responsibility were always emphasized.
“He taught us how to be disciplined and how to handle adversity,” senior Ula Cox said, “Football was important, but becoming a better person always came first.”

Athletic administrators and fellow coaches also recognized Coach Foster’s impact. His professionalism and consistency helped raise expectations for the program and created stability within the athletic department.
“Coach Foster leaves behind a strong foundation,” Principal Traci Kannon said, “His influence will be felt for years through the players he coached and the culture he established.”
Beyond wins and losses, Coach Foster’s legacy is defined by the relationships he built. Former players frequently return to practices and games, a testament to the respect and loyalty he inspired. Many credit him for teaching lessons about leadership, perseverance, and accountability that continue to guide them in college, careers, and everyday life.
As Coach Foster steps away from the sidelines, he plans to spend more time with family and reflect on a career filled with meaningful relationships and memories. While his presence will be missed, his legacy remains deeply rooted in Shadow Ridge football.
“I’ll always be proud to say I was part of this program,” Coach Foster said. “Shadow Ridge will always feel like home.”
