During the winter sports season, the Men’s and Women’s Bowling Teams at Shadow Ridge go to a local bowling alley to have fun and compete against other schools.

“My favorite part about coaching the Bowling Team is getting to know the bowlers better,” Bowling Coach Baron states. “The bus rides to the matches are a good opportunity for me to chat with the bowlers and joke around with them.”
Team bonding and the overall morale of the team all starts with the coach and environment. There are many different opportunities throughout the season that allow the players to bond together and with their coach.
“My favorite part about being in bowling is being able to meet new people from other schools and compete against them,” sophomore Dalton Darrington said.

For Darrington, bowling has been a great way to make new friends. The high level of competition is also one of his favorite things about going bowling.
Baron says, “Most regular season matches are pretty laid back. There are a few teams that really give us a run for our money, so those matches can be a bit nerve-racking. The end-of-season tournaments are very intense for me.”
It is important that during those more challenging matches, the coach and team creates a safe feeling for everyone to be stress free. Although some matches are easy and just there for the fun of it, certain competition brings the sport to a whole new level.
“I really want my bowlers to perform to the best of their abilities,” Baron explains. “Bowling can be a very stressful and pressure-packed sport, but I am lucky to have quite a few high level bowlers that can rise to the occasion.”
For Baron, his athletes’ performance is a big accomplishment that he enjoys watching and celebrating those achievements.
“I am most excited for the end of the season tournaments. Both the boys and the girls teams have a chance at placing in the team tournament this year,” Baron said.
Baron’s high hopes for the team is going to drive them to victory so they can win and compete at the highest level possible.

“My favorite moment was when we were bowling our team got the new record for highest pins overall in a competition,” Darrington expressed.
Darrington helped the team achieve this outstanding record last year and has high hopes of coming out again this year and hopefully beating that record yet again.
