Shadow Ridge High School’s Brox Rollo doesn’t just play sports, he attacks them. The sophomore two sport star, now in his second year with the Mustangs, has one mission this basketball season: blow everyone out and lead the team to a banner year. Fresh off a strong volleyball campaign, Rollo is bringing the same intensity from the net to the hardwood.
Rollo joined the basketball program last year as a freshman, quickly earning respect with his athleticism and nonstop motor. Standing at 6’2” with a volleyball player’s vertical leap, he spent his rookie season learning the ropes defending multiple positions, crashing the boards, and hitting timely jumpers. “Last year was about fitting in,” Rollo said after a recent practice. “This year? It’s about standing out.”
His offseason wasn’t a break, it was a bridge. While most players rested after basketball, Rollo flipped the script and dominated on the volleyball court, helping Shadow Ridge’s boys’ volleyball team reach the postseason. The crossover benefits are obvious: elite footwork, explosive hops, and a killer instinct for big moments.
“Volleyball made me quicker and tougher in the air,” he explained. “Now I’m bringing that to the hoops.”

Coaches are already seeing the upgrade. “Brox plays like the gym’s on fire,” said JV head coach B. “He’s our Swiss Army knife guard one night, post up the next. And he’s only getting started.”
Rollo goals are bold: average double figures, lock down the other team’s best scorer, and help the Mustangs win 15-plus games.
“I want people to leave the gym talking about Shadow Ridge,” Rollo said. “Not just one player. But yeah, I plan on being the spark.”
Teammates feed off his energy. “Brox shows up like it’s Game 7 every day,” said sophomore guard Jordan Carrillo. “He’s the guy you want with the ball when it’s crunch time.”
As volleyball wrapped up and basketball tryouts heat up, one thing is certain: Brox Rollo isn’t here to participate. He’s here to dominate. Rollo is about to put the city on notice, one deep three and one season-defining block at a time showing everybody what he is capable of. Rollo believes that they will be undefeated this year, he is so confident in himself and his team. Their team is good, they have multiple great players who can assist Rollo in going undefeated this school year.
