On September 12, 2023, Shadow Ridge High School hired Billy McCall as the varsity baseball head coach. After being on the softball coaching staff for two years, McCall looks to make the transition to his true passion, baseball. He attempts to tackle new challenges and sculpt the team into a championship level program.

After previous head coach, Travis Juneman, accepted a coaching position at Conroe High School, McCall got the call and promised to hold Shadow Baseball to a high standard.

“I want to impact the program in a positive way and change the lives of my players on and off the field. Baseball has always been something that I have enjoyed and to be able to share my passion for the game while helping my players get to the next level is truly remarkable,” states Shadow Ridge baseball coach Billy McCall.

Coach McCall has the opportunity to play a pivotal role in not only refining skills but also in instilling values that resonate long after the final inning. His players are embracing the change and are ready to take on the challenges that arise on their road to state.

Two year varsity centerfielder, Grayson Tressler, asserts, “Coach McCall has changed the dynamic of the program and has the team hungry to get better. He’s brought the team together like never before. He brought back a spark in the team that has us ready to lock in and make a run.”

Team bonding is an important factor to bring to the table when gaining the trust and commitment of a new family on the diamond. The dugout is buzzing with a shared sense of excitement and anticipation for what the season has to offer.

“McCall has a deep knowledge of the game and has helped me develop as a pitcher. He works with us individually and gives us the best chance to succeed between the lines,” voices Shadow Ridge varsity pitcher, Brayden Somers.

McCall demonstrates his ability to connect with individuals and help each player advance as the season approaches. His work ethic and love for the game is bound to give Shadow Baseball the push and discipline they need.

McCall exclaims, “Our success is not merely measured in our victories but in the collective growth and resilience we exhibit as a team. Our true strength lies in the bonds we form, the brotherhood, and the camaraderie as we fight for a taste of victory.”
