For years, music artists have announced new albums at big events like MTV and the Grammy’s. Back in 2022, Taylor Swift announced her 10th studio album, Midnights, at MTV’s Video Music Awards. Since then she has re-recorded several albums including Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1998.

During this years’ Grammy’s, Taylor Swift was awarded in the Best Pop Vocal Album category for her album Midnights. While she received her award, she officially announced that she is releasing a new album, The Tortured Poets Department. Swift explained that she kept this new album a secret for the past two years as she worked on it privately. Her fans have been speculating her next move after her recent re-recordings. Originally, Swift’s plan was to keep the album a secret, but since she won yet another Grammy, she decided it was time for the secret to come out. This announcement was a huge surprise to her fans, who thought her next release would be another re-recording.

Junior Juan Mejia, explains, “I personally love Taylor Swift. She is definitely a huge part of the music industry whether or not people want to admit it. I love Taylor’s old albums but I’m excited to see what this one has in store.”

For years, Swift has been on the top of the music charts. She is now a 14-time Grammy winner and has a total of 243 released songs. She has a very strong fanbase who call themselves “swifties.”

“So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you! Thank you!” Swift said on stage.

Taylor did not lie about posting the cover to her new album right away. The post can be seen on her Instagram, (@taylorswift) titled “April 19,” and another titled “All’s fair in love and poetry.”

Junior Maya Garay says, “I think Taylor Swift is a great artist, she has a lot of songs that I definitely listen to regularly. I’m already excited for her to release this new album, her last one was great.”

The Tortured Poets Department will be Swift’s 11th album containing 16 songs, one bonus track, and will feature Post Malone and Florence and the Machine.
