According to guidance counselor Cassie Murray, “The scholarship will cover up to 3 years of tuition at CSN. You have to apply during your senior year and use it the year following graduation. There are 10 steps students need to complete during senior year to earn the scholarship.”

First, students need to submit the official Nevada Promise Scholarship application by the October 31 deadline and apply for admission to their chosen Nevada community college, such as CSN. They must also submit the Mentoring Support Authorization Form to be paired with a mentor, complete the required new student orientation or Promise training by March 1, and file the FAFSA by April 1 to determine financial aid eligibility. Students may need to submit test scores or explore placement options to ensure proper course placement, and they must meet their assigned mentor at least once before starting college. Additionally, they must complete and report eight hours of community service, confirm all financial aid requirements are fulfilled, and finally, register for at least 12 credits in the fall semester following graduation, maintaining full-time status to qualify for the scholarship. By completing all these steps, students demonstrate both readiness and commitment to their higher education journey.
