Shadow Ridge High School teachers, students, and support staff are looking forward to a much needed summer vacation. Although for students, teachers, and all parties involved, finding affordable fun things to do can be a challenge, and it makes sitting in bed all summer seem appealing, However there is a list of things people can do to make this summer special.

Mrs. Wilson, a history teacher states, “I have always been a lake person, I love the lake and being outdoors. My family spends a week on a houseboat at Lake Powell every year and it is my all time favorite place. We have been going for almost 20 years, and it’s always a blast. We sleep outside under the stars, spend the day lounging around by the water and exploring the lake, and just having a great time. I am definitely looking forward to that part of the summer.”
Fun Summer Activities For Teens suggest a good way to start off summer is doing some DIY, like building a bird house. People can start this by buying wood for a few dollars, and following a tutorial on how to or completely building it from scratch. Another thing is that some museums have free entree or larger discount days, where people can go with family or friends for a low price.
The DISCOVERY Museum is free with certain library passes as well as the Neon Museum having discounted prices for people with EBT. Bank Of America card holders receive free access to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Springs Preserve, and DISCOVERY Children’s Museum on the first Saturday or Sunday of each month.
Kenna Burns a junior at Shadow Ridge states, “This summer I am excited about going to the dance UDA camp. At the camp participants are going to learn how to do certain tricks and combos.”
However if people are looking for something a bit more out there, water color water balloons or water gun fights are always a fun idea. How people can do this is by having a few friends buy a white t-shirt, water balloons or water guns and filling them with a skin safe dye. Then after that just having a water balloon or water gun fight, after the fight all involved would end up with a uniquely colored t-shirt and fun memories.
Conner Mitchell a junior states, “My friends and I want to go on a road trip cross country, we are currently trying to figure out what we are doing on the way to the East coast.”
Another fun thing to do is water parks, at Cowabunga Bay they offer a season pass for $99. Which offers free entry to any Cowabunga park and 15% off of all food/ retails as well as free parking all summer long. With the average ticket costing $39-50 people can make their money back in just two to three visits.
