Senior Night for flag football at Shadow Ridge High School wasn’t just about celebrating the last home game, it was about recognizing dedication, teamwork, and growth.
As the lights shined bright over the field, senior Brynne Alia reflected on her years in the flag football program and what the journey has meant to her. For Alia, the night carried more than just excitement.
“Senior Night means a lot to me because it represents all the hard work, memories, and growth I’ve experienced over the past two years, it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how special this program has been to me,” Alia stated
The flag football program has helped Alia evolve on and off the field. Alia explained that joining the team taught her lessons that go beyond sports.

“I’ve grown both physically and mentally. As a player, I’ve become more confident and disciplined, and as a person, I’ve learned responsibility, leadership, and how to push myself even when things get hard,” Alia expresed.
Before joining, Alia had no idea how much impact the sport would have on her. What started as a curious decision became a defining part of her high school experience.
“I was motivated to join because I wanted to try something new, challenge myself, and be part of a team that supports each other,” Alia expressed.
That sense of unity has stayed strong throughout her time on the team. Whether it was long practices or close games, Alia says the friendships made it all worthwhile.
“The bond we share is strong and genuine. We’ve supported each other on and off the field, and we’ve built friendships that go beyond the game,” Alia shared.
Emotions were high as she stepped onto the field for Senior Night, realizing how quickly the time had passed.
“I felt a mix of pride, gratitude, and emotion, it was bittersweet knowing it was one of my last times stepping onto the field with this team,” Alia explains.
As her senior season comes to an end, Alia says she’ll miss everything from the pregame jitters to celebrating big plays.
Alia emphasized, “I’ll miss the team atmosphere, the energy on game days, and being surrounded by people who push and support me.”
When asked how she hopes to be remembered, Brynne didn’t hesitate.
“I hope to be remembered as someone who worked hard, stayed positive, and always supported their teammates.”
