Koda Thacker is a sophomore at Shadow Ridge High School who enjoys spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes with her dad is playing Fortnite. Recently, they made a huge accomplishment and placed incredibly high in a global Fortnite tournament.
“My dad and I like to play video games with my sister and siblings and mom,” Thacker says. “We play Fortnite together as a family sometimes, especially on the weekends or at night when we are all free.”
Family time has always been important for Thacker and her family. When they are all doing something together that they all enjoy, like playing Fortnite, it is fun and enjoyable for everyone.

“My dad and I placed 31st in the world in a duo’s tournament in Fortnite and we got a total of 267 points,” Thacker states.
Thacker had a fun time with her dad playing video games and they even got a rewarding finish with a high placement and a whole bunch of points. This was a huge accomplishment for Thacker and her father.
“I think it’d be fun if my dad and I played again in another tournament because that’s really what I played for, my dad and making him happy because we get to spend quality time together,” Thacker explains.
Although playing video games together is not something Thacker and her family are always able to do, when they have the opportunity, it is a great pleasure. This was a great opportunity for Thacker and she got to spend quality time with her family.
“I think making that accomplishment with a family member is awesome and it is pretty cool,” sophomore Jacob Davis explains. “It is definitely not something most people accomplish with their own family, which is what makes it a pretty awesome achievement.”

Although people placed higher than Thacker in this Fortnite tournament, she placed 31st with her dad, which made this moment even more special and memorable. Having that type of bond where they were able to work together to accomplish this great achievement just makes it that much more special.
Thacker states, “I think everyone should try something like this at home with their families. Even if it is not playing Fortnite, playing any games or spending any quality time together as a family is always good.”
Thacker thinks no matter the activity, quality family time is always rewarding in itself. Students should be making time to spend time with their parents, siblings, friends, and any other relatives, to grow the community as a whole. Fortnite and playing other video games with each other has always been a favorite in the Thacker house.
