Women’s Golf at Shadow Ridge is getting off to a great start this year. With all the new faces and talent Shadow’s amazing Women’s Golf Team is getting better and better. Their first match is on August 20th at Paiute Snow Mountain Golf Course and they are working hard to prepare and be ready for their tournaments.
Junior Ayvah Rossi stated, “I started golfing at about 8 years old, my grandpa purchased a golf set for my birthday and I’ve been playing ever since. I joined the Shadow golf team because I wanted to play the sport I’d played for the past 8 years with some new friends and make new connections. I’m looking forward to playing with Aaleia, Holly, and the rest of my team, hopefully meeting some new people joining the team.”
Rossi highlights how important golf has been to her throughout her life. It’s easy to see how much the sport and being a part of Shadow Ridge’s golf team means to her. Rossi built a strong foundation for the sport at a young age and that foundation has stuck with her. Being on the Shadow Ridge golf team has given her the opportunities to make connections, improve her skills, and even form lasting friendships along the way.
Rossi continued, “The season so far has been really good, I’ve met a few new faces and I’ve made some good swing changes with the help of Coach Huesch and my friends. My biggest goals are to bring my score down and qualify for state again!”
With every new season there comes some new faces, and this season is no different. The team lost a few girls who have graduated and are onto bigger things, and the team has gained a few new names. The girls for this season are as follows: Juniors, Alexa Ledgerwood-Smith, Holly Rodriguez, Ayvah Rossi, Holly Cheyne, Madilynn Blackburn, and Aaleia Johnson. Senior, Peyton Price completes the Women’s Golf Team roster.
Ledgerwood-Smith stated, “This season has been good so far, I enjoy being back on the course again! My goals for this year are to get better and play weekly.”
With a roster filled with both seasoned and new talent, the Shadow Ridge Women’s Golf team is ready for a successful season. As they tee off their first match on August 20th, the team is excited to showcase their skills and build upon their strong foundation. With their dedicated Coach Steven Huesch leading the way, the future looks bright for Shadow Ridge golf.
