Fall Fun!

Gilcrease Orchard has a pumpkin patch every year for fall.

September 23 officially marks the beginning of the fall season. In Las Vegas, there are several different fall themed events that people can attend. From football season to haunted houses, fall time is big for Shadow Ridge students.

Football season officially started for Shadow back in August, but since then the team has had several games. The NFL football season started September 7th, which landed the first football Sunday on the 10th. Many families and students are excited for football season.

Junior Alexis Gonzalez loves watching football games with her family and friends.

“I love going to football games at Shadow. I think it is always so fun to hangout with my friends and get concessions. I love watching the NFL as well. Football Sundays with my family are the best. We love to go to church in the morning and then come back to watch.”

Besides football, Vegas has a lot more fall activities coming up. Gilcrease Orchard has sunflower picking until September 16. On the 23rd they start their fall harvest with their famous pumpkin patch and other vegetables. Gilcrease also sells cider, donuts, and other things that are fall themed. Several other places host pumpkin patches as well, a popular patch is the Halloween Town Pumpkin Patch located by Boca Park.

Junior Maya Garay explains, “I absolutely love fall, and pumpkin patches are one of my favorite things to do. I have younger siblings so fairs and festivals are ideal since we can all participate as a family.

Downtown Summerlin hosts a Festival of Arts and a Parade of Mischief every year in October. The Magical Forest in Opportunity Village changes to a Halloween theme for fall time. If horror seems more appealing, downtown Las Vegas has a Haunted Museum

Another popular fall topic is Starbucks. Since August, Starbucks has reintroduced their fall drinks to awaiting customers. This year they have a new drink, the iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte. This drink was originally ordered by requesting a chai tea with added pumpkin foam, but giving it a real name and adding it to the menu made it easier for customers to order it. Starbucks also brought back their classic pumpkin spice latte and apple crisp espresso.

Senior Alindra Rizo says, “I love the fall Starbucks drinks so much, my favorite is definitely the iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte. I’m so happy they put a name on this drink, it deserves the recognition.”

A recent trend on TikTok shows people making a Halloween-themed treat and watching a series of scary movies. Some popular releases this fall are Saw X and The Exorcist. More releases can be seen here.
