As the 2025-2026 school year comes to a close, junior Esmeralda Amador is planning for next year’s student body, as she is now elected as the Student Body President for the Mustangs, setting the stage for her senior year to be one of significant leadership and impact.
Amador’s journey to her presidency has been emphasized by her consistent involvement in various extracurricular activities and leadership roles. From becoming the Historian for LSU (Latinx Student Union) to now being the future Student Body President in Student Council, she has shown a commitment to service and a passion for making a difference. Her peers describe her as approachable, empathetic, and driven, which are qualities that have earned her the respect and admiration of the student body.

“Esmeralda is very efficient, she has amazing ideas, and she thinks very quickly,” sophomore Elianna Pacheco states. “She is very very organized and her work ethic is beautiful. She is very respectful, polite, and keeps everything community friendly.
One of Amador’s main goals is for students to strengthen the connection between students and the community. Whether it is through participating in events or joining clubs, Amador hopes to empower students to become active and more inclusive, contributing to the improvement of the community.
“My primary goal as Student Body President for the 2026-2027 school year is to garner more participation from the student body, whether it be in events, in clubs, in assemblies, or in spirit weeks,” Amador says. “Alongside this comes the goal of achieving a more welcoming, inclusive, and diverse representation of Shadow’s students through our Student Council. The purpose of the Student Council is to foster a unique environment to the student body where everyone has a say. However, I think our current need for improvement is actually including everyone in decision-making, and showing that Stuco works together with students who aren’t in the class. I would like to leave Shadow knowing all students felt appreciated and accounted for through our representatives.”
Looking forward to next year, Amador is determined to leave a lasting legacy as Student Body President. Her vision is not just about implementing specific policies or programs, but about creating a more vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus community where every student feels valued and appreciated. With her leadership, the Mustangs are ready to embark on a year of transformation and growth, building a brighter future for themselves and for generations to come.
“I’m passionate about leading our student body because I feel inclined to ensure that all students at Shadow feel that they belong through positive representation in our leadership,” Amador assures. “Far too often, students don’t feel a connection to their school and, therefore, shy away from participation. However, my vision of a student body is where everyone feels that they have a place that keeps me motivated to lead.”
