A new Swig location has opened on Craig, and they have hired a staff full of Shadow Ridge students. This has given students the opportunity to make good money while also hanging with their friends
Junior Brooke Hisey, a new employee at Swig states, “I think working together makes everything so much more fun! I love being able to talk about work to my friends. Not only that but being able to work with all of them makes working at Swig even better than it already is.”

This new Swig location has brought more Shadow Ridge students together and has also influenced the community to buy drinks from Swig. These students have influenced so many teachers, students, and administrators to try a soda from Swig.
Hisey states, “I really hope this swig brings a new place for everyone to go to when they need a sweet treat. And if someone is having a bad day, I hope they want to go to Swig to make it better. A big part of Swig is definitely connecting to the community so it’s important to us that everyone feels that.”
Hisey explains that working with her classmates has not been chaotic at all. Instead it has been super fun, and she loves learning in an environment where she feels comfortable to make mistakes.
For Hisey, working at such a popular place has brought her actually closer to her community, and she has made connections with people she would have never have gotten to know before. She also loves how welcoming and forgiving Swig has been especially since she does have much work experience before this opportunity.
Hisey says “My favorite part about working with my classmates is that were all able to carpool with each other to make getting to work easier. We also are all able to talk to each other about any updates and make sure we all know if something is happening. Overall it makes working at Swig even more fun than it already is.
Balancing work, school, and after school activities is not easy for students. However it’s a lot more manageable when students are able to feel comfortable at work, and get to see familiar faces everyday.
Hisey stated, “I think it can definitely get hard at times when I have a bunch of homework, but the way my schedule is made it gives me plenty of opportunities to have a break and take the time I need for school. My managers are very understanding when scheduling and are definitely a big reason why I’m able to not get super stressed.”
