Motivation is important to everyday life, it’s what makes people get out of bed in the morning. Whether it be for a job, school, or any other activities motivation is a large contributor to why people do things. The textbook definition of motivation is “the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.” However when people feel no motivation it becomes hard to do everyday tasks, things that are as simple as brushing teeth are seen as an unclimbable mountain.
Mrs.Wilson a world history teacher states “Motivation is a choice, you can choose to procrastinate and delay stressing yourself out or choose what you need to do to avoid stress.”

Wilson makes a good point about this topic, how stress can be a large demotivator. An article from Wonder Mind called 8 Ways to Get Psyched About Life Again states people should start with finding out what’s taking away their motivation and pinpoint joyful things someone can do each day. Typically while losing motivation people tend to be more stressed or going through a life change so understanding what is taking that motivation will help start to resolve the problem. A good way to lessen stress can be found in this link to a previous article Stress Management: Strategies That Actually Work. However, pinpointing things that bring people joy is a very individual thing, it’s not one that fits all but it’s finding what works for each individual person.
Olivia Woolen a sophomore states, “I think if I don’t do it now it adds extra stress later.”
Woolen makes a good point in focusing on the now instead of waiting utill the last minute. Self discipline is important, being one of the key elements for motivation, and the people around someone can help shape who they are and how they fair with motivation. For example, according to a Spiral Mind article called How to Be Happy: 15 Habits of Incredibly Happy People says how important close relationships are when trying to gain motivation. During a stage where people lack motivation, having someone to talk to or uplift them is a giant help, and who people choose to keep close is a very individual experience.
The article also states being proactive about relationships don’t stop putting effort or that can make people feel unmotivated not just in a relationship but as well as in work, school, or other hobbies. Most people don’t understand how important relationships are and how it can affect people’s day to day lives even when dealing with things outside of that relationship. The key points are mainly managing stress, self discipline, and making sure close relationships aren’t a drag but are uplifting to reaching a person’s individual goals and keeping up motivation.
