In a time when big coffee chains and trendy cafés dominate social media, one small business is proving that creativity and passion can make just as big of an impact. Meet @evsweetsips on Instagram, a local home-based business that serves up sweet treats and fun drink creations. All of her creations are made from scratch with love and dedication.

The creator behind @evsweetsips is Evalyn Conner, she first found her inspiration while working for her aunt, helping to make drinks like dirty sodas and other fun mixes. 

Conner mentioned, “I realized I really enjoyed it, my mom loves coffee, so I started experimenting with drinks for her and my friends, and it just became something I loved doing.” 

What began as a fun hobby quickly grew into a full-fledged small business, one that blends creativity, community, and passion.

Her love for baking and cooking started early. 

“It’s something that’s always come naturally to me and has always been fun,” she explained. 

That passion helped her push through the early challenges of running a business from home. After her very first day of sales, she discovered that her espresso machine couldn’t keep up with demand. 

Conner stated, “I was so busy that I had to go out and buy a new one right away that could handle making multiple espresso shots back to back.”

Balancing business and personal life hasn’t been easy, but strong family support makes a huge difference.

 “I actually work full-time in addition to running my business,” she shared. 

“My aunt gives me time off work when I need it, and my mom and grandma help out whenever I have something planned with friends. I’m very fortunate to have that kind of support,” Conner reassures. 

Seeing her success grow so quickly has been one of the most rewarding parts of her journey.

Conner said,  “I posted my coffees on TikTok, and within 24 hours it blew up.”

 “Having repeat customers is also so rewarding, it really shows me that I’m doing something right,” Conner acknowledged. 

When it comes to creating new drinks, she often finds inspiration from TikTok or from ideas that she and her friends would personally enjoy. Her favorite creation is the fruity pebbles matcha. Conner believes it’s easy and super delicious.

She believes that supporting small businesses doesn’t always require spending money. 

Conner states, “Reposting on social media helps more than people realize. It’s free, and it’s honestly the best type of advertisement a small business can get.”

Her advice to future entrepreneurs is simple but powerful, “Be patient, have support, and don’t be afraid to fail. Have fun with it and just start! There’s no perfect time. The best time is today.”
