Homecoming flier 2023

Homecoming is a popular fall dance hosted every year at Shadow Ridge. The dance ranges from different themes and decorations each year. This year the Homecoming theme is Candy Land; The Sweetest Homecoming. All grade levels are welcome to attend.

The Homecoming Parade will be on Friday, September 8 at 4:30pm, followed by the Homecoming Game at 5pm. The actual dance will take place the following day, Saturday September 9, from 7pm-10pm on the football field. Ticket prices will vary depending on how early they are purchased. The earlier the student purchases the ticket, the cheaper it will be. Since this years’ Homecoming is early, spirit week can be expected closer to the end of August instead of late September.

Senior Aliandra Rizo says, “I can’t wait for Homecoming and other school dances this year. It did surprise me how early this years’ Homecoming is, but I am still happy to spend time with my friends next month.”

Most HOCO spirit weeks are filled with anything from special dress-ups to movie nights to activities in the quad. A homecoming assembly is held at the end of the week as well. These are filled with performances, royalty court announcements, giveaways, and games. More information can be seen on the flier and pictures below, as well as on @srmustangs Instagram.

If a student wishes to bring someone from another school to this years’ Shadow Ridge Homecoming, they can fill out a guest pass from the office and turn it in by September 7. Guest passes will not be available at the door and the attending guest must have their student ID from their school. Guest passes can also be used for students who are home-schooled and wish to go to the dance. There will be no refunds on any tickets purchased.

Junior Cole Johansen explains, “I’m excited for Homecoming this year. I think the best part is the week leading up to it and the football game.”

Throughout the previous years, Homecoming has been hosted in the lunchroom and the quad in October. This years’ September HOCO is being hosted on the football field. The field provides the DJ with more room to set up their full stage as well as more dancing room.

Just like Promposals, HOCO proposals are very popular at this time of the year among Shadow Ridge students. A lot of these proposals are done at school with a funny poster board or a series of gifts. It is common for one partner to purchase a corsage and a boutonnière to wear along with their dress and suit as a special touch. Although, going to Homecoming does not require a proposal, and can be attended with friends, a date, or even solo.

Rizo continues, “Dressing up with my friends is always so much fun. I love the homecoming theme this year as well!”

Are you excited for this year's HOCO?
