The wait is over as Ms. Karly-Marina Loaiza, better known as Kali Uchis, releases a new album for all her listeners to enjoy after about five years of waiting and a long time in the making. The new collection of songs adds a third album of Kali’s next to Isolation, released in 2018, and her debut album Por Vida, released in 2015. The complete release of the album took place earlier this year on March 3rd and immediately skyrocketed on many streaming platforms and music popularity charts.

The album, titled Red Moon in Venus, holds loads of passion, emotion, and astrological meaning behind each lyric and the burrowed interpretation of each song. The songs vary from the intro, “in My Garden,” to the first song on the album, “I Wish You Roses,” leading down to the final song, “Happy Now.” With fifteen songs on the original album, there is no telling if there will be a deluxe album or additional songs soon. However, there are clear indications that Kali has fully expressed every emotion in the catchy melodies.

“I have been listening to Kali Uchis since she came out with her second album, Isolation, and since then, I have been a fan. Especially for her more popular singles that never made it to the big albums,” expresses listener Grace Mora.

Red Moon in Venus’ astrological background symbolizes change and discovery within oneself, summarizing the overall meaning behind each song and the entire album’s creation. The album features three different songs that have additional artists such as Don Toliver, who “matches her R&B potency amid the polyrhythmic blur of ‘Fantasy,’” Omar Apollo, who also “brings his certain charm to the sumptuous duet ‘Worth the Wait,’ and Summer Walker who is featured on “Deserve Me.”

Kali Uchis fan, Bella Marino, explains, “Once Kali dropped this album, I was mind blown at the references and meaning behind each song and lyric illustrated in the music videos. Kali Uchis gave her fans something to fawn over until the next big music announcement.”

Though there was much prior planning and dedication to creating the album, Kali started promoting it on her

Instagram account captioned “I wish you roses This Thursday it is a song & video” on January 17th and has continued to advertise since then. Two days after the post, the song “I Wish You Roses” was released, giving fans and listeners a sneak peek of what should be expected for the upcoming album. On top of the album’s release, Kali immediately released tour dates that would run from the end of April until the end of May for the U.S. tour.

“I think Kali Uchis always has some shoes to fill and expectations to meet after releasing an album and having to outdo the last one.” Mora Continues, “However, I believe that she has outdone herself and created what can later be considered a masterpiece.”
