Shadow Ridge High School is set to expand its Career and Technical Education offerings by adding Biomedical Science ll and Biomedical Science lll for the upcoming school year. The new courses will build on the foundation established in Biomedical Science l. There will be a $30 fee attached to this class.
The biomedical program focuses on hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real world applications of science. By adding two advanced courses, Shadow Ridge aims to provide students with a clearer pathway into healthcare, research, and other science related fields.

“Biomedical l is very forensic based, and in Biomedical ll students will dive deep into the human body systems so Biomedical lll will be applying that knowledge to clinical jobs,” said Ms. Chambers.
Many students who have completed Biomedical Science ll have shown strong interest in continuing the program. They believe the new courses will help them gain valuable experience while still in high school and better prepare them for college-level science courses.
“This class gives you a peek of real life medical situations and just overall the importance of life,” said junior Conner Mitchell
Biomedical Science ll is expected to place a greater emphasis on human body systems, medical testing, and problem-solving skills. Students will analyze how different systems of the body function together and how diseases can disrupt normal processes. Biomedical Science lll will introduce more advanced concepts, including medical research, clinical case studies, and data analysis, giving students a deeper look into how professionals work in the medical field.
“I love this class so much,” said junior Amya Edwards. “It prepares me for my future medical profession.”

School staff say the decision to expand the biomedical pathway reflects increasing student interest in healthcare careers. Enrollment in Biomedical Science l has continued to grow, showing that students are eager for challenging courses that connect learning to real-life careers.
“I love how we get to learn,” said junior Jazymn Rincon,”and how we learn to use medical equipment.”
The addition of Biomedical Science ll and lll also supports Shadow Ridge High School’s mission to prepare students for success after graduation. Whether students plan to attend college, enter a medical program, or pursue a science-related career, the expanded pathway offers meaningful preparation and exposure.
As course registration approaches, students and parents are encouraged to review prerequisites and speak with counselors about enrolling in the new biomedical classes. With these additions, Shadow Ridge High School continues to strengthen its academic programs and provide students with opportunities that align with their future goals.
