Shadow Ridge High School has welcomed a new Student Council advisor this year, Mrs. Webb, she is already bringing fresh ideas, energy, and a passion for student involvement to campus.
With 23 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Webb is no stranger to large scale events and leadership.

“I have been a teacher for 23 years, and my first 20 years were in film and tech theater,” Webb said. “I feel like that will really help me in student council because assemblies are like a big production in the gym.”
Her decision to step into the role of Student Council advisor came from a desire to challenge herself and connect more closely with students.
Webb acknowledged, “I really like people, and I wanted a new challenge, film studies is great, but sometimes I get bored watching movies, honestly. This felt like something new.”
Supporting student leadership is one of her top priorities. She emphasized the importance of showing up for students beyond the classroom.
“I already go to many sporting events if my students are involved, and I’ll continue doing that,” she announced. “Student council helps with posters, senior night, and events for everyone, so I want to be there to support that.”
While she doesn’t plan on changing traditions students already enjoy, she is excited to introduce new ideas, including a concept she calls “Mustang Mondays.”
“I don’t want to change things that kids love, but I think it would be really fun if every Monday something different happened, maybe one Monday there’s something unexpected at lunch, or there are riddles around campus and if you solve them, you win a prize,” Webb said.
She explained that Mondays are often the hardest day of the week for students.
Webb said, “Fridays, you’re already excited for the weekend, Mondays need something fun to look forward to.”
Looking ahead to the school year, she shared her excitement about being more involved in major events.
“I’ve always enjoyed homecoming, but now I get to be part of the behind the scenes planning, which I really love,” she said.
Something Mrs. Webb admires most in student leaders is, “Creativity, caring, and positive attitudes.”
Her advice to students considering joining Student Council is simple but encouraging.
“If you’re interested in something, you should always try it at least once,” she said. “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
With enthusiasm and innovative ideas, Shadow Ridge’s new Student Council advisor is ready to make this school year one to remember.
