The Shadow Ridge AFJROTC program is doing their first ever Wing All Call. The Wing All Call is where students are required to stay after school in their operational camouflage pattern uniforms to touch base with everyone as a unit as well as learn what’s happening behind the scenes to make sure every student is informed. Students wear their uniforms to this because it is a unit event. They are trying to instill in cadets that when they show up, they show up as “one.”
The idea came from the program’s Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Colonel Moore, and instead of just keeping it as an idea, leadership decided to take action to make it happen. In the military, All Calls are a regular thing that happens so, the Shadow Ridge AFJROTC program wanted to mimic it to the best of their ability.

Senior, C/Lt Col Grace Dunn has been a part of JROTC for four years but a part of Shadow’s program for three. For the most part, this event was run by Dunn, the wing commander, as well as other leadership members like, C/CMSgt Alexander Stephens.
Stephens is a junior and has been in the Shadow Ridge AFJROTC program for three years now. He is looked upon highly and has helped plan this event for months.
Stephens stated, “Overall I think leadership came together well and the event went smoothly. There were a few things we will make adjustments to, but they would be very minor changes to things like scheduling and how we enter and depart.”
The program is planning on continuing this event and while it won’t be every month, they will do it once per semester. The meeting is very beneficial to cadets because they are able to get a debrief of everything that’s going on throughout the unit. While the All Call sounds like it’s a more serious event, it’s actually supposed to be fun.
Stephens also stated, “I would consider the event a success. We had a high number of participants, stayed within our time period, and provided all the information we wanted to.”
Since the meeting was new to everyone, there were things cadets think could’ve gone smoother but overall it went really well.

Sophomore Jaiden Yurko stated, “It was a nice experience, I enjoyed talking to my peers. I think we can improve on how we get it all started because the beginning was a little slow but it was understandable seeing how it was our first ever Wing All Call.”
Since the event was new to everybody, there was definitely some chaos but that made the experience even better. Cadets were able to show other flights their chants and learn what the unit has to offer as a whole. The unit is looking forward to their next All Call which is scheduled to be in April of 2026.
