Shadow Ridge High School invited students, staff, and parents to take part in a fun and creative Brick Book Painting event. It was held on Thursday, December 11 from 1:20 to 3:30 PM in the SRHS Library. Participants painted a brick to look like the cover of their favorite book. It was an easy and enjoyable way for everyone to express themselves through art.
This event gave students a chance to slow down, relax, and do something hands-on. Painting a brick might have seemed small, but it allowed everyone to choose a book that meant something to them and bring that story to life through creativity. The finished bricks became part of the school’s library display, so students could leave their own mark on the campus in a meaningful way.

“I felt like this activity gave a way for kids to express themselves through the books that they read. Also, it left a history of the books our generation read. They probably had fun at the event because it was inclusive to everyone, so all their friends and families could come if they wanted,” stated Justin Taylor.
Brick Book Painting was also a great opportunity to get more involved at Shadow Ridge. Many students wanted to join school activities but were not sure where to begin. This event was a good place to start because it was friendly, open to everyone, and did not require any artistic experience. Students could spend time with friends, meet new people, and connect with teachers and parents in a relaxed and creative setting. It helped build community and gave students a chance to feel more involved with their school.
To participate, students needed to fill out the Google Form and pay $10 to Ms. Berge in the banker’s office. The payment was due by Tuesday, December 9. The fee covered all painting supplies, so all students needed to do was show up ready to paint and have fun. Since space was limited, signing up early was encouraged.
Overall, the Brick Book Painting event was a fun way to show school spirit and get involved on campus. It combined creativity, community, and personal expression. Students who wanted a simple and enjoyable way to be part of Shadow Ridge activities should have definitely considered joining. This event offered a welcoming space to be creative, spend time with others, and contribute something lasting to the school.
