Shadow Ridge has a theater club that may be the perfect fit of community and theatrical fun for anyone looking to help out in the theater community. Thespian Club is defined as an honors society for high school theater students who are recognized their achievements in theater arts. The club is run by a council containing a, president, vice president, treasurer, and many more council roles. These council members decide things like what will go on their social media, what types of special events that will be held, help plan for school events and prop design, and much more. It’s a very inclusive club where everyone gets a say in the changes or actions they want to see in the theater community.
The president of Thespian Club, Nicole Richards, a senior, states, “It’s definitely a lot to work on at some moments but we get a lot accomplished at one moment and the creativity is always there. We seem like a small group with 8 people. Yet we make it work and everyone has something to do, it’s a very welcoming space everyone in the theater community feels involved.”
The club has meetings in room 401 almost every Monday in which each council member shares their opinions and ideas for upcoming events or day to day improvements. The club has a great community where the upperclassmen help underclassmen strive to improve and grow to do better things in the theater community.
Richards states, “I’ve continued theater throughout high school and it made me want to join the club because the older members helped show improvement each year and seeing how others helped me wanted me to help others.”
The club’s teacher is Ms. Hartley and she strives to make the theater a welcoming place with a productive, educational, and creative atmosphere, making the club a second home for the students who chose to participate in the club. They make a difference for students and teachers alike, and it creates a beautiful end result especially for the theater community; anyone who sees a play or goes to dance will see their work first hand.

Richards states,“My favorite thing about the Thespian Club is seeing the end product of our work. Seeing how it makes people happy, it’s always the best reward, how our hard work makes a positive impact.”
Overall Thespian Club is a productive, fun, interactive, and advanced club for anyone interested in making a difference in the theater community, It’s slowly started to become a second home for all the members involved.
