Picking electives can be a struggle for some students at Shadow Ridge, there are so many to choose from but some don’t get the attention that they deserve. Principals of Anatomy, taught by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Chambers is an elective many students choose every year. Anatomy is a perfect class for those hands on learners and those interested in sports or medical related fields.
The class focuses on the medical field of anatomy and things pertaining to the human body. How to treat wounds, the systems of the human body, and much more are all learned in the class. Mrs. Smith, a science teacher at Shadow Ridge, and a physical trainer outside of school, has a passion for this class.

“One of the perks of teaching this class is how many labs and hands-on activities we do in here,” Smith said.
This class is taught hands on, it gives students a break from the computer and paper work they are given throughout the day. It is a class where students learn by doing and can be a good way to switch up their educational day. The class can combine fun with education, it helps students stay focused and invested in it. Students love this class for many reasons and encourage others to take the class.
“I really love the class and Mrs. Smith because she does a great job getting students participating in class,” junior, Mandi Abney stated.
When it comes to Mrs. Smith, students have nothing bad to say, students like Andi Barret, Sarah Watts, and Benjamin Bierstead all love Mrs. Smith, they say she is an amazing teacher who gives respect to the students and gets respect in return. Students are given the privilege to work with their friends in class as long as they can complete their work.
“I love learning new things in this class and more than that, making new friends,” Andi Barret, a sophomore says.
Each class has a diverse group of people and can provide opportunities for new friends. Students in the class also learn things that are difficult to learn on their own. They get access to materials and opportunities that are difficult to find anywhere else. This class is an opportunity that students may regret missing out on when they are picking their electives next semester. Altogether the class and the teacher are some of the best students will get at Shadow Ridge.
