Kindness is Key Week!
January 24, 2022
Key Club is promoting kindness during Key Week from January 24th to January 28th. (Kindness is always appreciated- even outside of this time frame!)
In the Mustang Quad, Key Club will be holding giveaways during all three lunches. Through this, each member and advisor hopes to encourage each person to show kindness in any way possible. Whether it be holding the door for someone, complimenting someone’s outfit, or even being with someone to keep them company, Key Club hopes to uplift everyone around campus.
“We are very excited to have this in Key Club!” Ariah Riley, the Vice President of Key Club, says. “[We are able] to show that in Key Club, we want to spread kindness and help the community!”
Throughout the year, the simplest acts of kindness are those that stick with people. The most memorable are the small compliments, the shy helping hands, and even the slightest smiles. All in all, Key Club hopes to promote kindness around campus and the community as a whole.
This will be the first Key Week that Key Club will hold at the Ridge. Although this is the first (of hopefully many), the members and advisors of Key Club have already taken a lot of time to prepare.
Mr. Malcolm, a Key Club advisor, has been watching over the members and helping them prepare for what he sees as one of the most important and heartwarming events Key Club gets to hold.
“The members of Key Club have been preparing [for the past few meetings],” Mr. Malcolm tells. “They have come together and [created many things] to have the [kindest] week.”
Even as Key Club has many things in full swing this year, the time to join never ends. The club is open to anyone interested in helping the community and being around others that are driven to create a better environment for everyone. Their meetings are on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. every week. More information about the club is posted on their Instagram: @shadowridgekeyclub!
The slogan for this special week is “Kindness is Key Week.” This entails that this week would promote kindness around campus. From any staff member to teachers and students, this is a way to spread warmth during these colder days. The ability to reach out and truly connect with those around one’s self is what Key Week aims for.
“If there’s anything that I would want [anyone] to get out of Key Week, it’s that even the smallest acts of kindness can change a person [and their outlook on life],” Mr. Malcolm explains.

I would love to see a follow up article about the students’ perspective about the activities.
