Something fresh is in the air, some say it may be that fall breeze, others say it’s due to the new school year. 

Missy Shipp has been seen rocking new Jordans around the Shadow Ridge campus. Shipp can be seen wearing her new sneakers, fully customized with her name on the back. On the cafeteria stage or around campus, she manages to help keep the Ridge safe while also looking fly.

Shipp says,“I love the dunks. I went through 15 different designs and I just chose my favorite one.” 

Shipp, is one of the 4 assistant principals currently at Shadow Ridge. In charge of the curriculum section, she works hard overseeing the English department. Being at Shadow Ridge for a decade now, it looks like the hard work has paid off since she was recently awarded “2024 CCSD Assistant Principal of the Year.”

“I started working at Shadow in 2014. I absolutely love Shadow because it’s like my family. We have the best kids, staff, clubs, activities, sports, and of course education! We are THE BEST school in CCSD…in the U.S…..in the WORLD!” Shipp states.

She is combining two things she loves with her heart which are Mustangs and Jordans. Never having seen the shoes, a few kids have questioned if they were a newly released shoe, yet to be surprised by the customized letters on the back.

“I’ve seen Ms. Shipp a few times and I saw her sneakers, the Missy Shipp written on the back is actually so cute, I lowkey want to do something like this. Making my own custom Tamara Jordans,” junior Tamara Mcthomas states.

Mcthomas interests do not really include Jordans or sneakers in general. Imagine the surprise when he mentioned that he liked Shipp’s shoes, albeit a welcomed surprise nonetheless. Shipp’s shoes actually inspired Mcthomas to start saving up for his own sneakers.

Shipp has been an inspiration to many throughout her career. She influences everyone from her fellow staff members and assistant principals to the freshmen and seniors of Shadow. Shipp takes charge of the curriculum and making sure everyday that Mustangs have their lanyards on around campus.

Shipp is quite kind and enthusiastic about everything. Even though trends and times have changed from when she first joined shadow in 2014, Shipp’s attitude shines through  while she is busy with lunch supervision or answering her emails.
