March 2, 2023
Since its opening at Craig Road and Arcata on January 16, 2023, Salad and Go, a brand new healthy take on fast food, has been a smash hit. Starting in Gilbert, Arizona, the mission of Salad and Go is “to make fresh, nutritious food convenient and affordable for all.” They sell an assortment of different salads, wraps, and even house-made lemonades. Their menu caters to all different kinds of people including vegetarians and vegans. They even have a breakfast menu that is served until 10:30 from 6:30- 10-30 on weekdays and 7:00-11:00 on weekends, good for early morning cravings that will leave customers guilt free.
Because of Salad and Go’s mission, they try their hardest to make healthy eating as fast as possible at the same time as being affordable. Each salad is under $6.50 and is customizable to each person’s individual needs. As protein options, customers are able to choose between roasted chicken, buffalo chicken, and tofu for the included price of each salad, and for an additional $2.39 they have the option of steak as well. Other options include over 30 different toppings and different dressings. Customers also have the option to alert the restaurant to different possible allergies to ensure the safety of each of their customers.
Junior at Shadow Ridge High School, Aliandra Rizo, appreciates the restaurant’s understanding of all the different kinds of people that may enter their store.
“By the looks of it, they seem to know that when someone wants healthy food to make them feel better, they don’t want to worry about getting sick or having some kind of reaction from their food,” Rizo said. “The flavors look amazing as well. I’ll have to remember to stop by!”
Their house made lemonades are quite a hit as well and, at a fairly inexpensive cost of $1.24, customers can choose a 24 oz. lemonade out of three options; traditional lemonade, cucumber mint, and frozen strawberry. Their specialty drink menu also includes cold brew coffee, mango green tea, and black tea for that extra caffeine boost in the day.
Jonah Willhite, senior at Shadow Ridge, was shocked by the kind of flavors in such a healthy treat, the frozen strawberry lemonade, and not in a bad way.
“I didn’t expect it to have such good flavor and quality at such a low price,” Willhite said. “An unexpected treat such as this one is sure to please any man, woman, or child. I was really able to taste each and every individual seed in the strawberries inside the lemonade. What a stupendous flavor! It truly was a satisfactory choice of lemonade.”
Willhite continues by stating that he is sure this is a treat the whole family will enjoy.
“If your grandma is still alive, take her to this place and get her a lemonade. You’ll be the favorite grandchild in no time.”
