Summer Activites

Summer Activites

Here in Las Vegas there are always fun events for students to do in the summer. It could be swimming, walking down Fremont street, or going to AREA 15. There is always something to do in Vegas, even in the heat.

In the summer Vegas can always feel like the hottest place on earth. Not everyone has a pool in their backyard but luckily for students there are pools all over Las Vegas where students can have a good time. Most regular pools are free in Vegas, such as Stadium Swim, Municipal Pool, Martinez Hall Family Pool, and many more. But maybe students aren’t just looking for a regular place to swim but looking for a water park instead.

It’s so hot in Vegas so it’s great that I have a lot of options when it comes to swimming.

Cowabunga Bay is always a good and fun place for students to go to on a hot day. Tickets are cheap, and Cowabunga sells year long passes. Passes are $109.99. Regular admission varies based on age. 48 years and above is $24.99, under 48 years is $20.99, and seniors are $9.99. These prices are already really good, but for students they can be better. If students do well in school and get A’s and B’s they can get a discount for an admission ticket.

“Cowabunga Bay is such a fun time and an amazing place to be, especially in the summer heat. Since I get good grades I get a discount, and this discount really encourages me to get good grades towards the end of the school year,” Aiden Ruvulcaba, sophomore, stated.

Maybe swimming isn’t something students want to do. There are many other things to do in the Vegas heat. Fremont Street is always a beautiful place to be during the summer. The art work is one of a kind. It may be hot but there are many things that can change that. Along Fremont street there’s many different food places. These places serve amazing food but also cold beverages, milkshakes, and some even serve ice cream.

“Going downtown isn’t always something that I get to do, but when I get the chance I always get donuts and ice cream. The most amazing donut place in Vegas is downtown. It’s called The Donut Hole. It’s not on Fremont street but within walking distance of it. These warm donuts with cold ice cream is the best summer treat to have on a hot summer day,” Savanna Jordan, junior, stated.

Maybe after students grab a quick bite they can walk around a bit more and find the metal sculptures on 450 Fremont St, Las Vegas. These sculptures are handcrafted, and are up to 10 ft. tall. These sculptures are outside of a shop where more are inside and for sale. The big sculpture has been out there for years and people love to come down and see and take pictures with it.

Part of the art district.

The Art District has some of the most amazing artwork out there, with sides of buildings being painted, but also live artwork being made and being sold as well. These small business owners love coming out on Friday and Saturday night painting and creating beautiful and amazing art work.

“Being able to see the artwork live is a beautiful thing to experience and see. All of the artists are very creative and talented. Seeing them put themselves out there is amazing and really a part of Vegas culture. Most of these talented artists offer art classes where they can teach you how to do the things they do, my sister and I love taking them and they are fairly cheap,” Morgan Heisner, junior, stated.

Vegas has some beautiful things that students can experience. Vegas culture is amazing and is something that students should go down and see this summer.
