Late night at the Logandale fair.

SRHS students always want to have fun on a hot summer day while eating good food and watching people ride pigs. Maybe students want to go on fun rides like the Ferris wheel and the zipper. Well students are in luck. Every year Logandale holds a fair where all of these things happen.

Every April Logandale holds the CCSD county fair. This year the fair ran from April 12-14. At this three day event many fun and exciting activities occurred. The drive from Las Vegas to Logandale usually takes anywhere from 45 to 60 min. The fair offered free parking and had two main entrances.

Students could have purchased tickets there or online. The fair had pig races that happened every 15 min. and children could also feed or ride the pigs after their races.

“Watching the pig races happen is a fun and simple event I love to see when I go to the fair. It’s a fun event and the pictures are amazing and funny. Once over it’s a fun thing to reminisce about and makes me excited to go see them the next year,” Alyssa Goldstein, sophomore, stated.

Pigs racing

There was a small zoo towards the middle of the fair grounds. In this small zoo they had some amazing and beautiful animals that students could feed and pet. They had animals such as llamas, horses, roosters, chickens, bunnies, chicks, and donkeys, etc. The zoo is always a big part of the fair. Every couple of years the fair has a big beautiful 220 pound black horse. She is amazing and used to be in events.

“Going to the fair and riding the rides are fun, but I love the experience of being able to spend time with family and feed the animals. It’s a good activity for my younger siblings since they are too little for most of the rides. They always have a good time feeding the bunnies and chicks,” Elysia Segura, sophomore stated.

There was more to the fair than rides, animals, and food though. The fair hosted a rodeo all three days. At this rodeo they had many events in which people competed. The rodeo lasted from 6pm-9pm. This rodeo was a good and exciting time and the shows sold out quickly. The tickets ranged from $35-75.

Rodeo

The rodeo had many different events in which competitions are held, such as, Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronk Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding.

“The fair is always a fun time with friends but what I enjoy most is the rodeo part of it all. My family and I have always gone to the rodeo every year. We dress up and always try to get the best seats, it’s really become a family tradition,” Jordyn Deel, sophomore, stated.

At the Logandale fair there is always a fun and exciting event to be had. Whether it’s watching pigs race, feeding animals, or watching the rodeo there is always a fun event for students to participate and make good memories at.
