Waking up early is rough for most people, although with Shadow Ridge High School having a start time of 7 a.m. it’s impossible to avoid not waking up early. Tips for how to get up at any time before 10 a.m. are helpful.
The first thing tip about how to wake up early is making sure people are eating breakfast, although people may not feel hungry, studies have shown when someone starts eating breakfast in the morning, who previously did not or did not see the need to eat breakfast, their body will then crave it. The food is how to get people’s brains get started and it will lead people to feeling less like an empty shell in the morning. Eating breakfast has also shown to have an effect on grades according to Frontier and Food Research Action Center (FRAC), grades have been shown to be higher in students who eat breakfast than students who don’t. This shows that people who eat breakfast have a more positive attitude in the morning.

Conner Mitchell, a junior, states, “It’s hard for me to wake up so I have two alarms in the morning to make sure I can get out of bed.”
A lot of students tend to have more than just one alarm to try and increase their efficiency in the morning by having things to do at set times.
Another way to not dread getting out of bed in the morning is making the least amount of stress for themself as can, which means maybe making lunch the night before, laying out clothes for the next day, or even keeping iced coffee in the fridge so there’s no need to make it in the morning. A big reason a lot of people have trouble getting out of bed is because that means just another stressful day, but doing nice little things to look forward to in the morning can help. My Fit Foods says that typically it is better to prepare lunch at night to reduce morning stress and so they have more of a prep time as to not just throw everything together in a rush. Although when asking teachers all 3 said coffee was the main way they wake up.
Mr. Bedingfield stated “I mainly drink coffee every morning to wake up and get my day started.”
People may rely on artificial things to wake them up instead of waking up organically. This may be because staff and students seem to all be overworked and doing what they can. So the real answer on how to wake up early is seeing what works for them instead of what works for others.
