Formed in July of 2023, Las Vegas local band Serrated has quickly amassed over two thousand followers on Instagram and continue to grow their popularity and audience in the local band scene and beyond. Serrated plays a mix of different metal subgenres, such as hardcore, groove, and death metal. They play gigs at local venues, restaurants, and even boxing gyms.
Members of Serrated include Judah “Gorr” Kilgore on lead vocals, Jacob “Groove” Lamberth on the guitar, Kenzo Kern on the bass guitar, and Landon “Lunatic” Etchegoyen on drums. Kilgore and Etchegoyen are currently juniors at Shadow Ridge, while Lamberth attends a charter school in Henderson, and Kern goes to Nevada State High School.
The band members are known by nicknames, other than Kern, because they wanted something cool to stick out more than their names.
Etchegoyen explains, “Judah got the name ‘GORR’ from his last name Kilgore and Kenzo kept his name because it already sounded cool. I got the name ‘Lunatic’ because I always have crazy energy on the kit, and we thought ‘Groove’ fit Jacob because his riffs are so groovy.”
All members of Serrated put their everything into their performances and exert intense energy onstage with great passion in what they are doing.
“[Our shows have] lots of energy. We bring our best, and we expect the crowd to do the same,” Lamberth remarks.
According to Serrated, people can expect heavy breakdowns, hardcore moshing (including two-step), fun crowds, and a close community at their shows. Merch for the band can also be found and purchased at these shows or on their official merch store online.
Etchegoyen remarks, “I love making music, but making music with your best friends is the best feeling. I love these guys, and we’ve grown very close this past year.”
Serrated’s band members are extremely close to one another, and often describe their band as a family.
“I feel like we all call it a family so much because we see the future of the band and we see us as beyond a business kind of thing, we’re all friends and we’re still just having fun,” Lamberth shares.
“Family isn’t about business, it’s unconditional love for each other and that’s the way it’s always been for us.”
According to Kern, Serrated band members “make decisions together, grow together, [and] bring each other up.”
“We do everything like brothers. We’re extremely tight to the point where I’d call our practice space home. I would go to war and back for these guys, and that’s family to me,” Kilgore states.
So far Serrated has released three original songs: “Torment,” “Hooray For Freedom,” and “How Far We’ve Fallen.” These songs can be streamed on Youtube, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify. They have plans to release some more music in the near future.
