Christmas is a holiday meant to be spent with people and with winter break approaching fast, families are looking for last minute ideas to spice up their time. Here are five, family friendly activities that will be happening each day.
Starting off with the notorious “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is a classic way to spend the night with loved ones. It’s about a 40 minute long detour that contains over five million lights across two and a half miles.
These festive light displays along the speedway will be running starting December 1st and keep shining all the way to January 4th. The line can get pretty long though, so customers can expect to find a fast pass sale –December 6, 7, 13, 14, and 19-23– to skip the line. Lastly, tickets are sold by the car at $39.
Next up is the Holiday Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolates. Very similar to the Glittering lights it contains hundreds of lights strung up along a path that customers are welcome to walk through. A young Ms. Soard, a sophomore attending Shadow Ridge, comments that the garden is worth seeing.
“We visited the cactus garden mid-day in early December and thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas decorations, though I am sure, based on our prior visits, that it would be much more beautiful at night. The daytime visit did afford us the opportunity to read the informational signs about the name and origin of many of the cacti,” she noted, from her family’s time spent there.
The locals of Las Vegas can vouch that they do not go to the strip often but that does not mean it has nothing to offer besides lost tourists. Holiday shopping has become full force since Halloween has come and gone, and the “Visit Las Vegas” website mentions that the Las Vegas Premium Outlets are offering “big time sales.”
Lastly, Mount Charleston is a fun and easy way for the citizens of North Las Vegas to access snow. With over 60 trail heads, the Mount Charleston snow resort, and lots of places to picnic or restaurants to eat at. Whether they are camping, or in a cabin, it is sure that each family can find an activity for them.
The “Go Mt Charleston” website declares that, “The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway is open 9am – 4pm 7 days a week.” Visitors can check the website for any weekly changes or temporary closures. There are Mount Charleston trails marked for children, and elderly explorers, along with the amount of time needed to complete the hike and levels of difficulty. Any or all other information can be found on the Mount. Charleston Website.
