Tyler Gregory Okonma, more commonly known as Tyler the Creator, is an American Soul artist. He’s well known for his creative style and hit songs. As a matter of fact all fourteen songs from his latest album, titled Chromakopia, can be found on the Billboard Hot 100 which is an online billboard meant to list off the top 100 songs in the United States.
Ever since June 25, 2021, when Tyler released his album, “Call Me If You Get Lost,” he has been enjoying wild success. So, it comes as no surprise that Chromkopia was long anticipated by his current fans.
In an article from Rock Ville Rampage a staff writer named William Bamba asked the question, “Does Chromakopia have the potential for album of the year?” It is clear that Bamba was not too far off in saying so. The album was released October 8, 2024 and since then has been the number one album on Billboard 200. Eleven days before the album was said to come out, Tyler released a short music video with the word “Chromokopia” displayed at the very end. It was an Instant success. The video itself was a short 57 seconds but that didn’t stop his fan base from not only watching the video, but some even went as far as to repost and spread the video throughout all different types of social media platforms. As of right now the video is just one month old and already it has 27 million views.
It should come as no surprise that most of Tyler the Creator’s fans are young adults ranging from 18 to 24. That being said, the student population at Shadow Ridge High School has no falter in the general love for the artist.
Dana Marchenko, a sophomore at Shadow Ride, and a member of the Student Council and National Honor Society, feels strongly about the album. “Chromakopia is literally the best album to ever drop. Tyler the creator in general is a genius I swear. My dream is to buy tickets for one of his concerts,” she said
The concert Marchenko is referring to is the “Tyler the creator- CHROMAKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR.” It was announced in the caption of Tyler’s teaser video stating that, “I’M GOING ON TOUR WITH Lil Yachty and Paris Texas,” meaning he will not be the only successful artist to be performing at this concert. The first day Tyler began selling tickets was Friday November 1, 2024. However, the first show held was in Tyler’s hometown, at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, before the album was even officially released. Nowadays tickets for the tour start at $80. Still, the amount of thought and time Tyler put into the album is a clear representation of the type of artist he wishes to be.
