This year, Shadow Ridge’s Student Council has another bright addition to the main front. Samara McMillon is this year’s Senior Student Council Historian. McMillon is hardworking and determined when it comes to making sure people are informed. She manages the class of 2025 Instagram account where she posts videos and photos to promote events taking place at Shadow Ridge.
However, even though McMillon takes time out of her day to make these informational reels, not everybody sees them so it’s hard when some of it is for nothing.
She says, “Sometimes, I worry that people won’t like or appreciate the stuff that I take the time to make, for example I try to post videos that go with today’s trends and I worry that people won’t find them interesting.”
This doesn’t get her down though, she continues to try as it is her last year being at Shadow so she would like to be of help to people when it comes to information.
McMillon excels in academics so that she will be able to reach her future goals. Some of these goals include scholarships, graduating with all A’s, and getting into her dream school. This isn’t all sunshine and rainbows though. Just like for most, McMillon has some trouble getting time off to help balance school and work. Even though it’s difficult, she still manages to stay on top of her classwork and plow through the year like a pro.
McMillon states, “The student council advisors make sure I know that I’m doing things right and I really appreciate Ms. Coyle and Mr. Bennett!”
McMillon talks about how as it is her last year at this fine school, she is going to treasure every moment she has
left and will continue to push herself until it is finally time to leave her stables.
McMillon comments,” One thing I love about Shadow Ridge is the people. I’ve met so many amazing people here and I can tell that most of these connections will stick long after high school. I’ve met one of my best friends, Faye, here and our bond grows stronger and stronger everyday.”
McMillon will be sure to use all of the skills she’s picked up as a student and historian when she goes to college. She’ll also be able to use her skills after school life in the real world, working whatever amazing job she decides to go into.
