Here at SRHS students are offered many different elective classes. These classes can either be fun or they can help students with future careers. SRHS offers two different types of psychology classes. They have regular and AP.

The regular psychology classes go into the basics of psychology and give the students an overview of everything they need to know. They discuss many different topics throughout the semesters and quarters. During those lessons students have fun projects and interesting lessons. Mini quizzes are given throughout the different lessons to ensure students are understanding the material given.

Definition of Psychology

“Though the mini quizzes seem like a hassle, they are easy and understandable if you pay attention during the lessons and do the work that is assigned. The projects are fun and not very difficult or time consuming. It’s difficult for me in other classes to engage in projects but in psychology they are very easy,” Natalie Franco, sophomore, stated.

The class has a lot to offer for students. The teacher, Mr. Frank, lectures while taking good and detailed notes. He is very involved with the students and his teaching. It’s not just lecturing though. There are hands-on activities as well. For example students were able to create their own images using watercolor painting.

“I usually have a specific type of learning style. I am more of a hands-on learner and I was worried I wasn’t going to do well in his class but I was pleased to find out it involves all different types of learning styles. He makes learning fun and actually enjoyable,” Alina Pavolech, sophomore, stated.

There also happens to be an AP class for psychology. This class offers a more detailed course. There are tests every week and pop quizzes. There are lots of notes to take and many assignments, but the class is still enjoyable and fun. Students will go into more detail about each lesson and dive deeper into theories and theorists. Group projects are required, that are presented to the class and teacher, along with occasional homework assignments.

Psychology is a a fun and easy class and I really enjoy it.

— Morgan Reed

“Being in AP Psychology has taught me more than I thought it would. I really enjoy the class and the people I work with. I am a student athlete and I thought taking on an extra AP class would be too much, but it wasn’t. The class is very manageable and easy to understand. As long as you pay attention in class and get the work done when he tells you, you won’t be overwhelmed and have minimal homework,” Zion Moore, sophomore, stated.

Students have many opportunities here at SRHS and students should take advantage of those opportunities. These classes offer great amounts of information that are fun. Trying one of these classes would be a great experience for anyone.
