December is the time for Shadow Ridge’s annual Winter Choir Concert. The students have been getting ready for the concert since their last Fall concert in October. The concert was on December 6th, right before exam week, which gave Shadow students somewhere to listen to some festive music to help them relax before the stressful week ahead.
“The second concert of the year is the Christmas concert. This year we picked traditional Christmas music that everybody knows, and some religious music that still had that Christmas touch to it,” says junior Loryn Mohlman, who has been a part of the choir for all of her years at Shadow Ridge and is a member of the Advanced Choir.
The doors to the Mustang Mountain Theater at Shadow opened at 5:30, started around 6:00, and were filled with an hour of amazing performances filled with Christmas cheer. The theater was packed with the choirs’ families, friends, and of course Mustangs. Some of the songs performed were Season of Light, Patapan Fantasia, and Frosty the Snowman, all performed by the Advanced Choir, many other songs were performed with all of the choirs combined.
All the choirs, beginning, intermediate, advanced, and chamber sang at the concert, singing traditional Christmas music.
“My favorite song to sing is What Child Is This, sung by the Chamber Choir,” says senior and member of the chamber choir Lindsey Cleveland. “I loved the energy everyone had on stage, during the performance, choir put forth our best efforts to get the best performance possible. It’s always so exciting to perform!” Cleveland continues.
The concert was a big success.
