Ms.. Thomas has been the assistant principal of CTE programs at Shadow Ridge ever since last November. She helped teachers be the best they could be by giving guidance and support towards them so that they could be the best for their students as well as supervise the Performing Arts Department, CTE and Student Activities. Unfortunately, Ms Thomas has now transferred to Northeast CTA from Shadow Ridge having wanted to accomplish a major goal that she has.

“Northeast CTA is still under construction and will open its doors to students in August for the 23-24 school year.” Ms. Thomas states, “For the past 10 years, one of my major goals has been to open a school from the ground up. I applied because I didn’t want to pass on the opportunity to fulfill one of my major goals, but it was a very hard choice to make because I really love the work I got to do at Shadow Ridge.”

Ms. Thomas is definitely excited about the work that she will be able to bring to the table with her from Shadow Ridge. She wants to help encourage students in the North Las Vegas area to take a chance on themselves, apply to attend NECTA and help create a positive atmosphere, and help them build traditions and school spirit as well as the students be able to have fun.

Though that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t miss the people that Shadow Ridge was surrounded with and who did genuinely care about the education of their students. She felt that she really did connect with them at her time with Shadow Ridge.

“Shadow Ridge is packed with incredible teachers and staff, and I loved everyone I got to work with.” Says Ms.Thomas, “To say that it was hard to leave is an understatement. I will especially miss the administrative team at SRHS.”

And feeling is just as mutual among the teachers and students that she got to work with such as Ms. Coyle and Victoria Lamontagne , a senior. Ms. Coyle, who is the advisor of Student Council and one of the classes that Ms. Thomas supervised, said what a joy and impact it was for Ms. Thomas to be around, especially for when Ms. Coyle first came to Shadow Ridge.

“Mrs. Thomas made the difficult parts of my job easy- she helped me wade through rules and regulations and keep things organized.” Ms. Coyle states, “She also made my life overall easier- she helped me love my job again after transferring to Shadow and made me instantly feel like part of the Mustang family this year!”

Students like Lamontagne, who is the Student Body Historian of Shadow Ridge High School also says that Ms. Thomas being here has definitely impacted her in a way that has changed her. Lamontange stated that Ms. Thomas was a very caring and understanding person who was easy to rely on.

She made me feel understood and felt at any point in time if indeed something I could go to her,” says Lamontange.  “I could rant, vent, and be able to get advice from her.  Overall, has left a GREAT impact on my life to the fact that I now know there are adults out there that do genuinely understand.”
