House of Gucci: a Legacy
November 22, 2021
Ladies and Gentlemen, be ready, because the show is about to begin. On Nov. 24, 2021, coinciding with Gucci’s 100th anniversary, the new movie House of Gucci will debut in theatres, directed by Ridley Scott. House of Gucci is inspired by the dynasty behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. When Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), a stranger of humble origins, marries Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family’s legacy and triggers a precipitous curlicue of betrayal, decay, revenge and in the end… murder. Gaga dropped a first-look photo of the film back in March, on her Instagram. The picture shows the 35-old superstar and Driver all set for chic skiing, on the Italian Alps.
Since that very first image, fashion lovers had the opportunity to follow, through the pictures posted on social media, some notable looks and sometimes startling ensembles from the 1970s through the 1990s, from the set. Janty Yates is the costume designer, and the production has been given full access to the Gucci archive.
Fans are ready to see Lady G back on the screen after the successful movie, A Star is Born. The actress seemed to have put all of herself to impersonate her character; she spoke with an Italian accent for nine months to authentically portray Patrizia Reggiani.
“It is three years since I started working on it,’’ the star said, “And I will be fully honest and transparent:I lived as her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. Off camera. I never broke. I stayed with her.” Just for that, she deserves an Oscar.
Gaga praised the director for his care while filming. “Ridley works differently from anyone I’ve ever worked with,” She revealed. “There’s never any less than four cameras on you. So what’s captured is what happened in that moment, it’s not spliced separately. I found it empowering, I felt very empowered by him as a woman on set.”
Joining Lady Gaga and Driver will be an all-star cast that also includes: Al Pacino (Aldo Gucci), an unrecognizable Jared Leto (Paolo Gucci) , Jeremy Irons (Rodolfo Gucci), Florence Andrews as Jennifer Gucci, and more.
Enjoying the Gucci family on November 24th sounds like a really good option for the ones who like both crime drama, and fashion.
