Rakuten Viki

Rakuten Viki is a streaming video service that offers an engaging approach that has become wildly popular among young entertainment consumers. The obvious difference between Viki and other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon is that Viki focuses on Asian content. Much of Viki’s Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese programming is subtitled through a crowd-source translation done by subscribers. Apart from putting up subtitles for English translation, users can also turn on the “timed comment” to see other users commenting on the action. Many of the Viki users aren’t native speakers of the languages of the programs they watch, so it also offers users a chance to pick the language of their interest. Most of the users use this app not just to entertain themselves by their so-called “biases,” but they also use it to learn Chinese, Japanese, and Korean by referring to dual English and foreign-language subtitles. Watch all your favorite subtitled Asian dramas, movies, and TV shows from Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand anytime, and anywhere, with Rakuten Viki.
