A kind act can lift someone’s spirits or make their day. There are many simple things people can apply to their everyday lives to be a little kinder, or give someone a slightly more positive look for the day, while simultaneously lifting their own mood. With World Kindness Day being November 13th here’s some ways to just bring a little bit of light on this holiday. .
According to Seconds.org it’s easy to be kind to people and lifts others’ mood. Doing a kind act for someone will increase people’s serotonin levels and serotonin is the chemical in the brain that allows people to feel happy. However, increasing serotonin levels goes both ways, giving someone a compliment raises both parties’ moods! It’s beneficial to be nice to everyone.
Mrs. Wilson, a social studies teacher, states, “Kindness is about doing little things that you may not think twice about but will be able to make someone else’s whole day.”
Ways to bring a little more kindness to the world do include the little things like saying “please” and “thank you.” Being polite is an important part of kindness; it also makes people look more professional. Another simple way is making someone feel listened to, while having a casual conversation, maintaining eye contact and responding to what they are saying shows that someone values what people are saying instead of using them as background noise. This kind of attentive behavior shows importance and value.

Junior, Luke Miller stated, “I agree most with the bible verse Philippians 2:3–4 ‘Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.’’
That verse sums up the intended purpose of showing kindness and helps show how important kindness can be and how kindness should be done selflessly.
MentalHealth.org states that they mainly focus on just talking to people while saying nice things in return. This includes telling someone that they are appreciated. Sometimes people go through hard patches some may not notice and simply hearing someone tell them they’re doing a good job or that they are worth the time and effort can mean a lot more than most think. The easiest way to be kind to others is to be polite, listen actively, and do simple things like giving someone a compliment; these are all simple yet effective ways to spread kindness and positivity.
